Art Therapy at Journeys

Art therapy gives children a way to articulate their feelings, help them clarify and relieve stress, as well as allay social and psychological distress through the act or work of making art, without having to use words. This assists in helping children with their social and emotional development, thereby aiding their academic learning.  It does this by helping relieve any distress so they can better focus on their work and by also practicing the necessary life skill of creative problem solving.

The art therapist and classroom teacher can share information that will enable the needs of the whole child to be addressed maximizing the student's educational experience resulting in a greater likelihood of academic success and a future with potential.

“I believe that children deserve to use their creative mind to explore life. I believe that you need to get down to a child’s level to really understand who they are.”
